Crystal Cruises has just announced the order of two new ships to be built by Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri. The first ship will be delivered in the spring of 2028, and the second ship will arrive at a later date yet to be announced. This deal also includes the option of a third ship that, if ordered, will be delivered in 2032. This will be the first new ship order since A&K Travel Group acquired Crystal in 2022, marking an exciting moment for the company.
Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, Executive Chairman of A&K Travel Group said in a statement: “This order is another milestone in the 40 years of productive collaboration between Fincantieri and my family that started with Sitmar Cruises, continued with Silversea and now is flourishing again with Crystal.”
“This order not only highlights the robust recovery of the cruise sector, in line with our Industrial Plan, but also reaffirms Fincantieri’s leadership, thanks to the operational excellence of our shipyards and the execution quality of our world-class supply chain. We are thrilled to partner with Crystal in our pursuit of innovation and excellence, under the guidance of a shipowner who has always been close to our Group, like Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio.” said Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Fincantieri in a statement about the agreement.
The New Ships
We don’t know much about the new ships as of yet, but Crystal has hinted that the star feature will be the promenade, a venue that has been very popular on their previous vessels- Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony.
Dining and Entertainment
In addition the dining options will once again include Umi Uma- the only Nobu found on a cruise ship, as well as a brand new venue Beefbar. Entertainment will also be a key feature, with Crystal continuing the tradition of exclusive shows and productions for guests to enjoy throughout the cruise. Another key feature will be the Spa and Fitness Center, which will be state-of-the-art and promote wellness and relaxation onboard the new ships.
Accommodations and Service
The accommodations, as seen on Serenity and Symphony, will be all-suite, including the verandas, and the popular single-occupancy suites created specifically for the solo traveler in mind. Crystal is all about service, and you will see that in abundance on the future ships. The ships’ guest capacity will be capped at 690, making the passenger-to-crew ratio fairly low, allowing for that personalized service Crystal is known for.
We look forward to more details in the coming months, and will keep you updated as we know more!
